Scott Carver Housing History Collection

The Scott Carver Housing History Collection oral histories document the advocacy work of residents and activists regarding the Scott Carver housing project. The James E. Scott homes and the adjacent Carver homes in the Liberty City neighborhood of Miami were one of the largest public housing communities in Florida, with over 850 units. The deteriorating homes were demolished starting in 1999, but the rebuilding process was plagued by scandal and mismanagement. The new Northpark at Scott Carver opened in 2012 with 350 mixed-income units.
