Interview with Lee Schrager, founder and director of the South Beach Wine & Food Festival and the New York City Wine & Food Festival, as well as the Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications for the Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc. Schrager grew up in Massapequa, Long Island, before moving to Florida in high school, and he graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 1979. He entered the world of restaurant and hotel hospitality as a room service manager at a Miami Beach hotel, followed by positions of increasing responsibility at the Intercontinental Hotel in Miami, where he worked for 16 years. He then began working at Southern Wine & Spirits focusing on media and community relations, including charitable events.
