This is an interview with Rose, who tells the story of her son who joined the U.S. Army and was deployed to Afghanistan. Rose talks about her son’s his first job in the military as lead driver that had to look for explosives. Rose says that one day a bomb exploded near her son during a mission in Afghanistan. He was severely injured and his frontal lobes were damaged. He lost much of his sense of hearing, but he was lucky to be alive. The interview is about family values, relationships, and about fear and hope. Rose prays for her son every day and seeks support from family and friends. She is patient and strong, and very proud of her son.
