Professor Weldon (Purdue University) and Vice Provost Hickerson (University of Calgary) each serve as Principal Investigators on projects funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation involving the formation of multi-disciplinary research teams focused on a set of research challenges or problems that have been selected as a point of focus at the institutional level. An aspect of the multi-disciplinary teams at each institution is the partnership between each team and one or more library specialists. The background, impetus, current status and findings of the Purdue and Calgary initiatives will be presented and discussed. Associate Vice Provost Morgan and Dean Miller (University of Miami) will present an overview of the new U-LINK initiative at the University of Miami and explore the library engagement aspect of the initiative.
