About the Libraries Indigenous Studies Group
Launched in 2020, the Libraries Indigenous Studies Group (LISG) advises and assists library leadership on policies, programs, activities, and resources related to how the University of Miami Libraries can celebrate and elevate contemporary Indigenous experiences and histories while also critically addressing ongoing structures of colonialism, imperialism, and other injustices.
About the Presenter
Dr. Sandy Littletree
Assistant Teaching Professor
University of Washington Information School
Dr. Littletree is an assistant teaching professor at the University of Washington Information School, where she is a member of the iNative Research Group. Her research and teaching interests lie at the intersection of Indigenous systems of knowledge and the library and information science field. She teaches classes on Indigenous ways of knowing in the digital world, Indigenous systems of knowledge, storytelling in the digital world, and community engagement.
She holds an M.A. in curriculum and instruction from New Mexico State University, an M.S.I.S. from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Ph.D. in information science from the University of Washington. She is an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation (Diné).
