Interview with Judy, mother of four veteran children, Navy, Army and Marines, Part 3 of 3

Judy from Colorado is one of 7 children. Her father served in WWII, but she doesn’t consider herself from a military family. She has 4 children and all served in the military. Her 2 older boys enlisted in the Navy and served together during Operation Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia for 2 years. Judy’s daughter, born 10 years after her boys, applied for Army ROTC during her 2nd year of college. She married a Marine who served in Iraq. She served in the Army for 4 years. Judy’s son was a firefighter then joined the Marines. He was deployed 4 times, to South Korean, Okinawa and on a ship and was in Afghanistan for 8 months. He served in the military for 8 years. While in Afghanistan, he was shot twice and was recommended for a medal as Judy proudly read a letter her son received. Judy said she was thankful that her children served their country and having all her children serve in the military was emotionally tough but that it brought her closer to her faith and her faith in God helped her through.
