This is an interview with Kelly. She comes from a military family. Her father was in the Marine Corps, but he never talked about his time in the military. Kelly thinks that her father had PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder) as a result of performing his duties. Kelly’s husband was a U.S. Marine, although he was not in any war. Kelly’s brother was a pilot in the Special Forces for a long time, and she is very proud of him. Kelly's oldest son joined the military as an officer; he was deployed three times to Iraq and Afghanistan. Kelly also says that sometimes she did not know where her son was deployed, as the Army did not disclose that information. Kelly got involved in Caring for Troops Organization, in order to mail packages to her son and other soldiers. Kelly always thinks about her son with pride and happiness. Kelly’s son served 10 years in active duty, so for her it was difficult to live this time without any emotional help. Kelly sought support by praying, because she has faith in God, and she has made contact with other women who helped her to cope with this situation.
