This interview tells the story of Patricia and her son who joined the U.S. Marines. The interview is about Patricia’s emotions and experiences since her son left home. Patricia talks about how the mass media and public opinion have affected her emotions since they do not reflect the reality of the situation and real facts about the military, so she tries not to read the news. Patricia also talks about the importance of military education and training for her son. This interview deals with the support she has given to her son at all times since her son is part of the Marine Corps. Finally, the interview deals with personal values and the patriotism she and her son have for the United States. Patricia has sought support from other women and from prayer groups to cope this situation.
