Arthur Dunkelman on a journey of discovery to see how travels and voyages expanded the Western concept of the world as maps evolved from 1500 to 1600 using materials from the Jay I. Kislak Collection of the Early Americas, Exploration and Navigation held in the Special Collections of the University Libraries. Dunkleman spent over 24 years working closely with Jay I. Kislak—prominent collector, philanthropist, and Miami resident for more than 60 years—to build a collection of rare books and historic artifacts focused particularly on Florida and the Caribbean, exploration, navigation, and the early Americas.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Arthur Dunkelman served as director and curator of the Jay I. Kislak Foundation for 24 years prior to joining the University of Miami Libraries as curator of the Kislak Collection and currently as its manager.
